Request For Proposal (RFP) is for CCT’s New Rehearsal Space Arts Ed Program.

Welcome Teaching Artists and Scientists!2013-03-28 09.42.16

This Request For Proposal (RFP) is for CCT’s New Rehearsal Space Arts Ed Program..(official name TBD)

Please start here to being process of becoming a Teaching with Art(s)cool PDX

Once you’ve submitted these teacher documents you can use the following form to submit class ideas for this program.

Tips for a good submission: Add as much information as you can for each class you’d be interested in teaching. There is no such thing as too many ideas!  We are hoping to gradually build a solid arts based education program in the rehearsal space. This program will include programming in performing arts, fine art, movement arts and hopefully some academics like homework club, science and more.

Age Ranges: We hope to create programming for humans of all ages. This is a FUNDRAISER for CCT so please remember that we can also do OTHER classes for the community including classes for parents, baby/toddler ages and seniors. If you have ideas for these types of classes please submit them here also.

We will be offering the following general blocks of time for classes:

One Hour Classes. Short classes that are just one time things. Great for younger kids. These can be any available in any open slot. These could also be adult/baby classes that could run during the day time.

Two Hour Classes. These can be a bit more complex and either one time or weekly sessions. These will likely be the after school classes on M/W/F.

Three Hour+ Classes. These would be considered workshops, intensives. These will be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Recommended for Intermediate and older students, and/or adults.

Four Week Sessions. Any of the above classes can be listed as “one time” OR you can expand them by doing running classes in blocks of “four weeks” (this would equal a four, eight or twelve hour program. See submission form for additional details)

Program Basics
Start Dates: Will Vary for each class. We want to start programming ASAP in late October 2016. This is a trial session to see if this is doable in the current space. We are planning on having a four week session from 10/24-11/20 and 11/28-12/24. We are hoping to add in some Holiday Break Camps too so if you’re available during that time please check that box on the RFP form.

Send all ideas and we can make them fit the available slots as needed.

Please submit ONE FORM for each class idea you have.

Class Rates & Material Costs:

Please estimate your labor and material costs in the RFP. Labor and Materials can be calculated “per class” or “per student”. Material costs should be listed and detailed. We may have access to these materials so we don’t want you to purchase anything until your class material list is confirmed. Estimated material costs are helpful so just do your best.  Our goal is to keep registration costs below $10/student/class hour. (i.e.; a one time class that lasts 2 hours should cost around $20/student. A weekend workshop could be $40-$80/student depending on the number of hours of instruction)

Any classes are welcome for submission*. Here are few ideas we’d like to see:

  • Theater Arts: Set Design, Scenic Painting, Prop Building.
  • Movement Arts: Theatric Combat Training, Blocking

Art(s) Education Advocacy Army Round Table Event Schedules for 2013

Please join us for our next round table meeting on June 22nd, 2-4pm, location: TBD!

The theme for this meeting with be: Plans for the Art(s) Army in Fall!! We hope to strengthen Portland’s arts programming so we can have a Rad, Rad Summer but it’s already time to think about Fall. We want to know what you’re up to this summer? Are you teaching, performing, showing or doing festivals? Where do we overlap? Where are we missing the support we need? Maybe we can all help fill in each others needs. We also want to know what your thinking about doing this fall? We’d like to plan a conference or special back to school festival… anyone interested in this?

This is a monthly round table for those specifically interested in supporting Arts Education for all.
Please RSVP through the Brown Paper Ticket link below to receive information about the location and to be added to a list for future dates- why so secretive? This meeting is for serious advocates who want to make a difference. This is not a free event with snacks and entertainment- maybe it will be one day, but for now this is intended to be a planning meeting for serious advocates who are ready to put their plans into action. Sometimes we change the location based on the number of attendees.
